1. Locate the radar hoods.

  1. Cut and glue them on with Medium CA as shown.

  1. Add the fire extinguisher parts to the radar operators side pieces.

  1. Cut a small shelf out of 1/16” balsa as shown.

  1. Glue on the shelf and the lower radio stack so that it’s even with the round heater unit as shown. Test fit as needed into your fuselage to make sure you have it right.

  1. Sometimes you’ll notice that the plastic part has webbing. This is not avoidable in some of the parts I make, that’s why I am able to get the detail that I do with my stuff. It really is easy to fix, so I’ll show you how, some of the parts we need now have these problems.

  1. Wick some thin CA into the inside of the part where the webbing is. Then quickly dunk it into the Micro-Balloons. Now all that is needed is to sand the webbing off of the exterior of the part!

  1. Now we can finish up the right panel, this is the easy stuff! Near the front all that is needed is to attach the two switch panel as shown.

  1. Glue on the parts marked A. Small gauges, oxygen regulator and gunners turret control box switches.

  1. The left side panel is just as easy. Add some 1/16” balsa to the flap control box as shown. The other panel does not need anything, just glue them to the positions shown in the picture.

  1. Next we’ll finish up the cockpit wall behind the gunner. It consists of a fire extinguisher and the front cockpit heater.

  1. The heater mount will have some webbing because of it’s extreme shape, but as demonstrated earlier, it’s very easy to fix. As before wick some thin CA on the inside of the seams and then dip the part in Micro-Balloons. When that is dry sand the exterior to shape.

  1. Glue the part to the area marked in red with the hole towards the simulated door.

  1. Assemble the heater using the same balsa insert technique shown before. After gluing the balsa pieces into each half, glue the heater parts together.

  1. This is how the heater will be glued into position, this is just a test fit, do not glue it on yet.

  1. Do the same with the fire extinguisher.

  1. After the fire extinguisher is assembled, glue on the top piece.

  1. Assemble the gunners armor plate. Cut both pieces out and attach 2 pieces of 1/8” dowel to the frame piece on the right. They should be about 1 7/8” long, but you may shorten them as needed to fit your cockpit.

  1. To help support the gunners armor plate, add some balsa blocks to the inside of the right and left cockpit panels.

  1. Turn them over and very carefully drill out the armor mounting holes.

21.Test fit the armor plate and the cockpit sides.
